Beer-Based Spirits

Duvel Moortgat Created Duvel Distilled from Belgian Beer

Duvel Moortgat has continued to push the boundaries when it comes to brewing techniques with its new spirit called 'Duvel Distilled.' Unlike other spirits, this new drink was originally distilled from beer.

Duvel Distilled is a 40 percent ABV spirit that was created by distilling regular Duvel beer. As Duvel Moortgat brewmaster Hedwig Neven explains, "We distilled the basic brew for Duvel into a strong alcoholic beverage. Then we filtered the distillate and let it mature for years in oak bourbon and sherry barrels." The result is a spirit that has been aged for 10 years and delivers a subtle vanilla touch. According to the brand, Duvel Distilled is perfect for the holiday season as the spirit pairs well with grilled fish and meat, as well as vegetables like artichokes and Brussels sprouts.
