If you're a dog owner, you usually don't mind getting some dog kisses on your hands or cheek, but kissing them as you would your significant other is not as common. Photographer Chris Sembrot captured those select dog owners and their canine best friends in a more intimate fashion: swapping saliva.
Sembrot created this series, 'For the Love of Dogs,' to promote unconditional love between man and man's best friend. He claims that the owners changed their biochemistry by smooching their pooches; their oxytocin levels rose and their blood pressure decreased.
To non-dog-owners, this might look like a little grotesque -- but, it does have its benefits. Scientists have actually done studies saying a dog's mouth is cleaner than a human's. So next time you feel like pulling away from your dog, think twice.
