Painted Watermelon Donuts

Paper & Stitch's DIY Donuts are Decorated to Look Like Watermelon Wedges

These DIY donuts are decorated to look like a summery fruit. Created by Brittni Mehlhoff from Paper & Stitch, the Watermelon Donuts are painted using food coloring as edible paint.

The blogger recommends glazed donuts rather than powdered or cake donuts. You can also bake your own. Brittni suggests using her vegan glazed donut or grapefruit glazed donut recipes.

Unlike her homemade watercolor popsicles, a gel food coloring (pink, red and green hues) will work best to paint the DIY donuts. You will also require materials including a cake decorating brush set, black sprinkles, vodka or lemon extract, a knife to create the watermelon wedge shape and small bowls to keep the food coloring in.
