A special screening of the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes movie drew plenty of humans and a few chimps too—Vali and Sugriva are both two-year-old chimpanzees from the Myrtle Beach Safari that attended the movie screening at its opening night in Florida.
Alike the thousand other moviegoers at the film opening, the chimps got the full experience—they bought their own tickets, got snacks and sat in the audience for the duration of the film. The two young chimps were probably better behaved than some people who go to the movies, making this a clever stunt to show just how alike humans and primates are. Considering the tone of the movie, there were some concerns that the smart chimps might pick up some ideas about world domination.
