The condominium is conventionally rectangular and often consequently uninteresting. Connecting Riads is quite different with its apparent enthusiastic attempt to challenge gravity and its flat plot. Right angles have certainly been avoided by the AQSO architects.
Taking cues from the jagged horizon of bleached structures around Casablanca, this building embodies a bold play of geometries as a composition of four mutually embracing masses. The plan-based contours of the project are defined by the rigid site, but the standing silhouette is an exciting sequence of angled capping, covered with grassy gardens and accessed from the apartments within.
The staggered effect of the terraces fosters an intriguing interaction amongst neighbors, similar to that of the rooftop travel in the casbah. For those without access to the upper Connecting Riads lawns, landscaped courtyards provide public places for outdoor enjoyment.
