The Clyfford Still Museum embodies the tough-guy persona that the artist of the same name often displayed. Since it is dedicated to the art work of abstract-expressionist Clyfford Still, it is only appropriate that the building is instilled with the essence of his existence.
Designed by architect Brad Cloepfil of Portland-based Allied Works Architecture, the Clyfford Still Museum sports a rough, cast-in-place concrete facade that perfectly complements Still's huge and jagged paintings. Although this beautiful butch building seems to have a rather simple design, its bunker-like presence is quite impressive, and even daunting.
Opening this fall, the Clyfford Still Museum will be home to a whopping 94% of Still's total creative output. The Clyfford Still Museum will definitely become a must-see attraction in Denver, Colorado.
