Drastic Doll Make-Unders

These Bratz Dolls Are Given Startling Transformations

A Tasmania-based artist has taken it upon themselves to "rescue and rehabilitate" Bratz dolls from their garish styling.

Opting for a less-is-more-approach, the artist, who operates under a website titled 'Tree Change Dolls,' paints over the layer upon layer of plastic makeup on the dolls' faces, giving them a more natural look. Makeup-free, the dolls look way more age-appropriate for the girls that they are marketed towards.

The hypersexualization of toys -- specifically, dolls -- has escalated so much in recent years, it's refreshing to see a doll that's bare-faced. The artist, who is in the process of opening an Etsy store for the Tree Change Dolls, explains, "I hand repaint the dolls' faces, mold new shoes and my Mum sews and knits their clothing."
