Architecture practice Fala Atelier embarks on a project that delivers six bare apartments in one three-story-high block. Located in Abragão, Portugal, the flats are kept incredibly minimalist, with function and customization in mind. The studio creates six open-concept spaces that answer to contemporary sensibilities. The bare apartments are "built with the simplest materials and details, with a severe scarcity of means," as Filipe Magalhães — a partner at Fala Atelier, shares with Dezeen.
The flats share a common stairwell. Residents can choose between two- and three-bedroom units. As minimalism is a central theme for the design of the building, the bare apartments are quite easy to customize and style. In addition, including the bare necessities and nothing 'extra' renders the housing also affordable.
