Amazon Live Mode is now available in the US and Japan for Android users. This stems from L'Oreal's purchase of a cosmetic focused augmented reality app called ModiFace. Since this purchase, L'Oreal has developed functions for trying on the virtual makeup. The app will now be available on Amazon, where users can try on different cosmetics, this can be done so in a live video or selfie format. Amazon Live Mode will be available on iOs latter this year.
This is not the first AI cosmetic focused app to be developed by a major company. Target has previously created an app to match a person with a specific shade, using its shade matching algorithm. As well Neutrogena has created a 3D face scanning app in order to create sheet masks with a better fit.
