Flipkart announced that it will be launching an alcohol delivery service in India, through an agreement with Diago. A report on the new alcohol delivery services states that local government officials in West Bengal, and Odisha, indicated that Flipcart can operate as a technology provider for Diageo. Consumers will be able to purchase alcohol through the Diageo application, which is owned by HipBar. After orders are placed, products will be taken from retail locations and then delivered.
Alcohol delivery services allow consumers to conveniently purchase products while maintaining physical distancing guidelines that were created in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19. A number of other food delivery services are also entering the alcohol delivery market in the region, including Swiggy and Zomato.
