The villains define the hero, and if these Zatransis illustrations of Batman's nemeses are any indication, the Dark Knight is probably the most badass hero to have every been created by the mind of a human being. After all, who would have to patience to show mercy to such menacing threats as the Joker, Bane, Catwoman, the Scarecrow, Killer Croc and Mr. Freeze?
Zatransis, whose real name is Mike Henry, is an American artist specializing in an exaggerated cartoony style of illustrations. Even with cutesy features added to these villains, I can bet no one would want to run into these criminals in a dark alleyway... unless Batman is also there.
Implications - Artists enjoy interpreting pop culture characters in their own style because they know there will be an audience for their works once they complete their projects. Artists are essentially using the fame of pop culture staples to propagate their work. Corporations may similarly use pop culture references in their media campaigns in order to generate interest among consumers.
