Estudio Carroll completes the Xique Boutique Hotel, which is a boutique hotel defined by its pink chukum and sets itself into an artificial wetland located in Puerto Escondido Mexico. It is inspired by the silhouette of the female form and is built to overlook the Pacific Ocean. The design process was approached with three main values in mind: airflow, and environmental stability.
The building has three storeys and boasts rounded corners to invite a natural breeze to circulate naturally. The team explains the design process, stating "The building's form was initially conceived to maximize habitable space while preserving existing vegetation on the site. The curves and contours resulting from this extrusion create visual fluidity and elegance inspired architecturally by the female form."
