Local architecture firm Studio Morphogenesis designed the Zebun Nessa Mosque, which is a dusty pink concrete. It is a mosque by the waterside resting on top of a sloped foundation in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The mosque is named after the land owner's late mother and it is made to be a spiritual sanctuary and community space for workers in the area.
The design process uses a 'dig and mound' approach where it elevated high plinths to manage overflow during monsoon rains. Studio Morphogenesis partner Saiqa Iqbal Meghna spoke to Dezeen about the design project, stating "We wanted to frame the view towards the water. This creates a sense of calmness for the devotees as they enter the space from a busy industrial surrounding to a serene atmosphere merged with the body of water."
