The Wyse Mr. Potato Head Contest ad campaign may not feature the Mr. Potato Head many people are familiar with, but it does illustrate the expectations for this intriguing competition. The first of its kind, this spud contest is to take place on St. Patrick’s Day.
Created in house by Wyse Advertising, the Wyse Mr. Potato Head Contest ad campaign is simple and hilarious. It stars Hot Potato, Tater Tot and Spuddy Holly. These creative interpretations of common potato sayings are only the tip of the iceberg. They whet people’s appetites for more similar sculptures; so much so that the potatoes themselves may be devoured right after. The campaign was art directed by Steve Lageson, who succeeded in making these 'taters seem as human as possible with the most minimal amount of effects added.
