First released in 1979, The Warriors has been a part of American culture ever since. Fox’s American Dad recently ran a Warriors-themed episode, the Simpsons has referenced it on several occasions, and the call of “Come out and play-ay” can be heard in numerous films. A video game based on the film quickly rose to the top of the charts and won several awards, there is also a new clothing line from Marc Ecko, a new interactive game in the works, and a remake of the film in pre-production.
Ostensibly based on the Greek tale Anabasis, IMDB sums up the plot thusly: "A gang called The Warriors are framed for killing a gang leader trying to unite all the gangs in the area. With other gangs gunning for them they must get back to the home turf of Coney Island… Alive."
With all this love for the film, its no wonder that one fan lovingly recreated some key movie scenes with miniature sets and action figures from Mezco Toyz. Taken over the course of several weeks, the photographer carefully positioned the miniature gangmembers to capture the poses of the originals as seen in the film. The results, shown here, are stunning!
