Sparano + Mooney Architecture designs the new Wabi Sabi residence that is located in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is designed with a cantilevered envelope in two forms complete with blackened cedar over a canyon. It was completed two years ago and sits on top of a nine-acre lot on the Wasatch Range.
There are three bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms that take over two volumes. It invites bright natural light with the floor-to-ceiling glaze ends overlooking the beautiful landscapes. The studio speaks about the design, noting that "We wanted to touch lightly on the site, so the home cantilevers over the site, is grounded at the entrance, and then floats over the landscape as you move through the home. his projection helped us to minimize the impact on this natural site and reduce excavation."
