The conceptual 'Baobab' vertiport has been designed by the Giancarlo Zema Design Group as an eco-focused structure for use with electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVOTL) vehicles that would further enhance their sustainable nature. The tower is constructed using steel and laminated wood, which gives the exterior of the structure a natural appearance while the upper landing pad offers space for up to three air taxis at a time. The dedicated landing pads for each unit would also provide wireless charging power to the vehicles using clean electricity.
The conceptual 'Baobab' vertiport is focused on the needs of the ecotourism industry in Southeast Asia and Europe, which would enable travelers to easily catch a ride and enjoy the surrounding landscape from above.
