Quorn, a U.K.-based company that offers a delicious range of substitute meat and vegan products, has knocked it out of the park yet again with the advent of vegan chicken fillets that offer the satisfaction and crunch of Japanese katsu fillets but are completely devoid of chicken.
These vegan chicken fillets happen to be made with Quorn's very own meatless chicken, which is made with mycoproteins. The fillets are then coated in panko breadcrumbs and a sweet-and-spicy sauce.
These fillets are also exceptionally easy to prepare, as they simply need to be baked in the oven for around 20 minutes until they're golden-brown, before being doused in the coconut-infused katsu sauce.
Gill Riley, marketing director at Quorn, noted that these vegan katsu fillets are one of the latest examples of 'fakeaway' foods that are growing in popularity ad appeal. “Crispy coated meat-free chicken continues to be a consumer favourite and many people are recreating their favourites at home, looking to treat themselves whilst tightening the belt,” Riley said.
