While other designers may shy away from tackling the controversial subject of smoking, Jean-Marc Gady has introduced a range of new finishes to his 'Up Yours' (La Chose) ceramic ashtray. The two-fingered ashtray holds a cigarette with the same poise of a seasoned smoker and quite unequivocally states 'up yours' to the non-smoking establishment.
The new ceramic range builds on the previous design by adding new finishes: gold, platinum, black and orange. The stunning objects would grace any social gathering, and also make a aggressive political statement. The French designer Jean-Marc (Founder and Director of the Jean-Marc Gady Interior and Product Design Creative Agency) is mostly dedicated to the luxury world and designs for brand names such as Louis Vuitton, Moet & Chandon, Apple computers, Baccarat and Christofle.
Prices? Well, the Gold version comes in at around $125; Platinum at $80; while the best of the rest at around $55. It's almost a shame of deposit anything in these luxury designs, let alone the ash of cigarettes, so buyers may decide to come up with other uses for these sleek ashtrays instead.
