Uber and Doordash Will Deliver Free Paxlovid to Vulnerable Areas
Kanesa D — October 25, 2022 — Social Good
Uber and DoorDash are partnering with Walgreens to deliver COVID antiviral Paxlovid for free to underserved neighborhoods. Stemming from the White House's pandemic response efforts, Paxlovid lowers the risk of covid hospitalization and death. It must be taken within a few days of the first symptoms to be most effective, making acquiring the tablets fast critical to fighting the virus. People living in areas that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Social Vulnerability Index deem to be socially vulnerable can take advantage of this program, which will go into effect soon.
“This partnership is yet another way in which Uber’s technology can help Americans recover from the pandemic and make lifesaving healthcare more accessible,” Caitlin Donovan, general manager of Uber Health, said in a statement.
According to the White House, the program will increase access to COVID treatments in the US.
