The TWA Hotel is a unique hotel opened in 2019 that pays homage to the 1960s, often referred to as the golden age of air travel. It is located at JFK Airport, inside the former TWA Flight Center, a landmark building designed by the renowned architect Eero Saarinen in 1962. The hotel preserves and restores many of the original features of the terminal, such as the red-carpeted sunken lounge, the Solari split-flap board, and the futuristic flight tubes. The hotel also showcases a museum exhibit that displays memorabilia and artifacts from TWA and the Jet Age.
The hotel’s 512 guestrooms are designed to evoke the style and comfort of the 1960s, with midcentury modern furniture, rotary phones, and vintage magazines. This aesthetic format draws on consumers' nostalgia and comfort for the past, resulting in joyful, relaxing experiences for patrons who can relate to its design inspiration. The rooms also offer stunning views of the airport’s runways and the TWA Flight Center.
The hotel’s amenities include a rooftop infinity pool and observation deck, a cocktail lounge inside a restored Lockheed Constellation airplane, and the world’s biggest hotel gym. The hotel also features several restaurants and bars, including the Paris Café, which serves dishes inspired by the destinations that TWA flew to.
