Salsten is a Somber Take on the Classic Architectural Style

Salsten, a vacation home in the village of Harnosand, Sweden, is a Tudor-style cottage in terms of its form. However, the building uses color to provide an interesting take on the traditional British architectural school. Rather than the combination of cream, black, and brown that often characterizes Tudor homes, Salsten is entirely black, giving it an almost creepy appearance (especially considering its relative loneliness near an isolated lake.)
To be sure, the interior of Salsten isn't as unsettling as its exterior might feel for some people. The rooms throughout the home employ classic Scandinavian design principles, sticking to monochrome color schemes and offering plenty of cozy accessories. There's also an attached sun room in all white that's far more pleasant than the ebony exterior indicates.
