A pair of tree-clad skyscrapers are proposed for a site in Dubai. The announcement was made by Italian studio Stefano Boeri Architetti at the COP27 climate conference in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The buildings will be 190 meters and 150 meters tall.
Unsurprisingly, the tree-clad skyscrapers have an aesthetic that is reminiscent of Stefano Boeri Architetti's previous work. The proposal integrates a total of 2.640 trees and 27,600 shrubs for the facades alone. In addition to this, the structures will also include "a system of greenhouses and hydroponic gardens." The tree-clad skyscrapers are a good example of how architects and designers are focusing on sustainable building.
Stefano Boeri Architetti was approached by the investment initiative Impact One for this project. The firm is known to commission projects that benefit "urban forestry" in Dubai.
