A project of Bubbly Dynamics, LLC., The Plant Chicago is an indoor farm using reclaimed space from what used to be a large unused factory. The Plant is also a true social enterprise.
“I had been looking for ways to reuse vacant and derelict industrial buildings,” John Edel told Fastco Exist on the choice of space. “Modern manufacturing isn’t really interested in being in a 100-year old multi-story structure, but plants and fish don’t really care what floor they’re on.”
Still in its early stages, The Plant Chicago will eventually have educational programs, support sustainable food businesses and install a renewable energy system.
