The Manser Practice Has Designed a Vacation Home in a Fishing Village
Vasiliki Marapas — May 15, 2014 — Art & Design
London studio The Manser Practice designed a weekend retreat for a yachtsman and his family, located on a fishing village off of England's south coast. The home opens out towards the shoreline on the Isle of Wight.
Considering their client's needs, the architects made sure that it was possible for the home owners to mosey outside and directly catch the morning tide. They also installed a wet room for the purpose of storing coats and boots, as well as providing easy access to the boats outside.
To create the glowing exterior of this two-storey house, the architects installed translucent, glazed walls. The house also features a translucent atrium, which divides the house into two separate wings. A hardwood staircase is located in its center. Finally, the home features an open-space kitchen and living area, as well as a wall of sliding doors that lead to a slate terrace and swimming pool.
