The Trilogy of 'The Golden Compass' is Being Remade as a BBC Miniseries
Cadhla Gray — November 4, 2015 — Pop Culture
The production companies behind 'Doctor Who' are collaborating with fantasy trilogy author Philip Pullman on a BBC miniseries based on 'The Golden Compass.'
After a less successful remake in a movie format was made in 2007, this TV series will add to the radio play, audio book and graphic novel that have also adapted the imaginative story line. 'His Dark Materials' is set to have eight parts that include the plot line not just from the 'The Golden Compass' but the other two novels in the trilogy as well.
The magical story follows the characters Lyra Belacqua and Will Parry through a series of parallel universes. Other characters they meet along the way include a talking bear and humans' demons that act as the characters' spirit animals.
