The Thames Bath project is a new venture, currently the subject of a Kickstarter campaign, that aims to open a floating, open-air public swimming pool on the River Thames.
The pool will comprise a huge floating pontoon on the bank of the Thames. Accessible by stairs, the pontoon will be fitted with a lifeguard tower. There will be two main pools, a 25-meter lap pool and a plunge pool, as well as a small paddling pool for kids.
While public open-air swimming pools may seem like a relic of the ancient past -- with images of Greek and Moorish bath-houses coming to mind -- there's clearly an appetite to bring them back. Should it come to fruition, the Thames Bath will underline the revival of retro recreation.
