Copenhagen-based architecture studio MAST unveils its new plans to develop the Centroparco, which is a park that is detailed with floating buildings and islands. It will take over an abandoned sand quarry along the outskirts of Milan in the middle of the Segrate district. The project aims to bring communities together -- ones that were previously disconnected as a natural retreat. It will have links for pedestrians and bicycles, as well as boat rentals, restaurants, and a spa.
MAST's founding partner Marshall Blecher explains that "A key criteria for the project was to minimise the impact on the surrounding environment. Walkways will weave between existing trees, which are going to be retained and the buildings, which present as small nodes along the walkway, will be constructed off-site to minimise the impact."
