Sustainable Packaging Coalition Aims for Clear and Consistent Communication
Christopher DeLuca — June 11, 2011 — Eco
The Sustainable Packaging Coalition has set out to tackle the communication barrier that exists around recycling items. More often than not, signs are confusing or lack information about where a specific kind of material should go. By trying to communicate how people can recycle in more effective ways, the Sustainable Packaging Coalition has set out to remove the friction around reduced the amount of waste we collectively produce.
The challenge for the Sustainable Packaging Coalition will be to get its iconography adopted across industries. The redesign of recycling iconography is just one great example of how graphic design can have a role to play in terms of the public good. I hope to see these in place as soon as possible in areas around my city.
