Talented artist Eddie Liu recently created superhero portraits of many critically acclaimed comic heroes showcasing the figures in the age group they might be today if they were in fact real. The illustrations creatively subvert the timelessness of the characters by adding the realism of aging to their aesthetic.
The series zooms in exclusively on heroes from the DC comic book storylines including Wonder Woman, the Flash, Superman and Batman. Each character is known as significantly more aged and, as a result, perhaps a little worn out. Despite the drastic weathering shown in the added wrinkles, bags and greying of the hair, many of the characters look quite distinguished.
The portraits showcase the popular heroes in a new light that is much more realistic than their timeless literary portrayals.
