It certainly makes a model’s job easier these days if you tell her that you expect her to topple over after entering the stage. Designer Deborah Simcox’s brilliant recognition of the fashion world’s shock and awe reaction to a catwalk spill paid off this week in Dubai. Simcox is one of six emerging designers appointed to show their collections this week at Dubai Fashion Week.
As it would seem, the dramatic opening set the tone for, well, dramatic masquerade couture. Unfortunately, the masked models came off as looking more costume party than drop-dead-gorgeous. However, the beautiful standout piece was a full skirt covered in hand-twisted fabric rosebuds.
