NASA's Space Launch System is the Most Powerful Rocket Ever
Daniel Johnson — December 10, 2019 — Tech
NASA revealed its Space Launch System, or SLS, which will be part of the 2024 Artemis mission. According to Jim Bridenstine, a NASA Administrator, the new Space Launch System will be the most powerful rocket of all time. The SLS will undergo further testing in 2021, in order to get ready for the 2024 Artemis moon mission.
The SLS already underwent a round of testing, which focused on the fuel tank. Specifically, the fuel tank was being tested for its ability to withstand compression, tension, bending and other forces. During the test, NASA implemented a number of sensors and microphones to determine if the tank buckled. Following the test, NASA indicated that the fuel tank passed, and it will be fit for the Artemis moon mission.
