The 'Sonic Seasoning' tableware has been designed as a project by Royal College of Art student Mengtian Zhang as a multi-sensory approach to food consumption that would transform the eating experience.
The project consists of tablewares that focus on ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) and will thus make satisfying sounds as the person prepares to eat. This includes components that will move and change when interacted with to deliver a wholly more satisfying experience compared to just simply consuming foods.
The 'Sonic Seasoning' tableware is reported by Zhang to deliver a fun experience at first, but will ultimately work to make foods taste differently thanks to the incorporation of sound. This could help to make foods more satisfying by incorporating the aspects of treats into the experience.
