The Solar Birdhouse Provides a Soft Glow for a Midnight Snack
Meghan Young — November 9, 2012 — Eco
The Solar Birdhouse is a great example of utilizing eco-friendly technology for other species aside from humans. Like a bird's version of outdoor solar lights, this avian abode provides a soft glow in the night to help guide them to the food residing inside for a delicious midnight snack.
Designed by Oooms, a studio based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, and founded by Guido Ooms and Karin van Lieshout, the Solar Birdhouse is just one of many examples of how they think outside of the box when it comes to common objects. The Solar Birdhouse is outfitted with solar panels on the roof, which charges a small battery. At night, that battery powers the light stick acting as a convenient perch for the bird. The Solar Birdhouse also provides a soft glow for other garden revelers.
