The Soft Underbelly installation designed by Joshua Howell and Aaron Zeligs for the Santa Monica, California Glow 2010 event was an instant hit with its attendees. Comprised of a canopy held up by hundreds of metallic white balloons illuminated with multiple blacklights, the lower portion of the canopy featured a network of mono-filament threads painted in UV paint.
What made the Soft Underbelly installation a hit, though, was the glowing sap that oozed from the hybrid ‘tree stumps.’ Viewers had the chance to paint this liquid wherever they pleased, which made for an extra fun-filled night.
