Nicole Richie recently posted a video on her blog that implores readers to view the PSA above, which details the shocking cultural crisis taking place in the Congo area.
With the help of John Prendergast, the Richie Madden Children’s Foundation is hoping to do their part to raise awareness. According to Richie, the conflict is largely fueled by a multimillion-dollar trade in minerals like tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold, which are in turn used to make a variety of gadgets like circuit boards, cell phones, iPods, and digital cameras.
Nicole Richie is one of the prominent celebrity advocates for Raise Hope for Congo, which seeks to protect and empower the Congolese women and girls who are being raped, killed and mutilated on a daily basis as a result of the mineral trade. These celebrity advocates are urging the public to take a stand via the Enough Project.
To support the Enough Project, I plan to take my own stand by not promoting or writing about the electronic gadgets that are a part of the problem.
