The conceptual 'Shifting Nests' are a sustainable housing solution for Vancouver, Canada that aim to provide a low-cost option for citizens that would enable them to live comfortably in their own space. The homes feature a segmented interior space design that would enable inhabitants to enjoy resting, cooking, self-care and even farming from their own independent pod. The homes aim to make the most of vacant lots in the Vancouver area that are otherwise sitting empty in order to help support more density.
The conceptual 'Shifting Nests' are the design work of the BLA Design Group for the Bee Breeders Microhome Competition 2019. The homes feature a prefabricated design that is achieved using plywood along with metal cladding and corrugated polycarbonate.
