Starfish is a smart car seat sensor that can connect with your smartphone to alert you if you've abandoned your young child in a car. In recent years, there has been a rash of young children dying or becoming ill because their distracted, overworked or plain incompetent parents abandoned them in a hot vehicle. The Starfish smart seat sensor is attached under your child's car seat with self-adhesive tape. It then sets up a 'geo-fence' of roughly 20 feet around the vehicle, and alerts you whenever you leave the fence with the baby still in the seat. If you don't respond to the notification within 5 minutes, the app notifies your emergency contacts as well.
