Chinese architectural firm Scenic Architecture makes smart use of angled walls for their work on 'From East Bookstore.' The prominent, sharp-angled walls creates an interesting connection between the city of Shanghai and the surrounding environment. The holistic design is meant to create continuity between the exterior and interior of the shop. This is quite the feat considering each area of the building is also designed differently to have a program-appropriate atmosphere.
Scenic Architecture uses the walls as a central feature in order to define and separate the different spaces while also creating two courtyards in addition to multiple terraces, apertures and gardens. Inside, two separate cafes have access to picturesque panoramic views of the surrounding gardens.
