El Sindicato Arquitectura — a studio that operates out of Ecuador, has just completed a rooftop building in Quito that measures at just 12 square meters. The incredibly compact structure is gabled and it boasts affordable materials. Dubbed 'Casa Parásito,' its layout includes a kitchen, a bathroom, as well as spaces for storage, eating, sleeping, working and socializing. According to the project description that the firm released, the rooftop building places onus "on solving the basic habitation necessities for a person or young couple."
To fit all features for a comfortable living situation, El Sindicato Arquitectura had to think outside of the box. The bed, for example, is located on an elevated platform, while "a large triangular window [...] allows plenty of natural light inside."
