The Rocking Chair No. 1 has both traditional and modern elements that work to make it as intriguing a rocker as any encountered before. From what appears to be a floating backrest and seat to the dramatic proportions, the chair is a unique piece of furniture that would catch anyone's eye.
Designed by Canadian industrial design student Brendan Gallagher, the Rocking Chair No. 1 was created for a school project that tasked each student to incorporate the stylistic qualities of a fashion designer into their own design. It was inspired by Toronto-based clothing company Bustle. Made out of solid walnut and powder-coated mesh, the rocking chair embodies the label's "combination of crisp silhouettes, patterns, and colorful highlights," according to the designer.
