From Jungle Gym Recliners to Silly Seesaw Seating
Laura McQuarrie — May 29, 2014 — Life-Stages
Instead of catering to just one individual or task, these furniture pieces are designed to reinforce fun and group play. This could be as simple as elongating a piece of seating so that it encourages people to group together, or making it so that there's enough space for multiple people to draw on a tabletop. Chalkboard tables are just one example of pieces from the playground being turned into furniture, but this can also be seen in other home furnishings that take inspiration from jungle gyms, seesaws and swing sets. Naturally, these help their users to develop bonds, just as kids would during recess.
Although a lot of this furniture is geared towards kids, creativity-encouraging tables and chairs like these are also being designed specifically for adults in the workplace.
