"Dutch designer Reinier Bosch creates a range of cabinets, tables and mirrors for Pearl Lam Gallery that are inspired by the Miao people, a minority group in southern China, as well as the city of Shanghai."
Bosch is a graduate from the Design Academy Eindhoven where he first developed his interest in the group. For years, the designer dreamed of exploring China’s urban and rural areas which lead him to visit a remote village that was home to the Miao tribe.
The hurricane table and other pieces by Reinier Bosch feature reflective elements and all pay homage to the traditional and handwoven fabrics of the Miao tribe. Whether mimicking the pleats in their ethnic attire or channeling weather patterns, the designer's furniture creations challenge perception.
