Designer Andrea Mangone pushes innovation in the rechargeable smartwatches category with a new wearable design that can provide uninterrupted 24/7 health and lifestyle monitoring. With her ambitious project, Mangone provides a solution to one of the most challenging aspects of smartwatch design—battery life.
One of the biggest problems with rechargeable smartwatches is that "you have to take them off before you can actually charge them on [a] charging pad or dock." Vessel can actually be charged while still on the wrist. Mangone achieves this with a pebble-shaped battery that can magnetically latch onto the back of the smartwatch. The charging is not wireless like one may assume. Instead, the designer draws inspiration from early smartwatch design and harnesses pogo pin contacts.
