Project Edison Responds to its Surrounding Environment
Jamie Danielle Munro — May 1, 2014 — Art & Design
Project Edison was put together at the Epiphany Hotel in Paulo Alto. The structure uses various pieces of technology to respond to its immediate environment.
Located right above the spiralling staircase in the lobby, Project Edison reacts to different sources of stimuli, including if the hotel is mentioned on social media sites such as Twitter or Facebook, as well as adjustments in the weather outside or people simply moving around. IDEO was the main company behind the development of the installation, as they specialize in creative technology that has interactive components. The only issue with this installation is that hopefully people are active on social media or its raining outside, otherwise it could become quite dark in the Epiphany Hotel lobby!
