Chanel is Opening Two Private Stores to Increase Exclusivity
Colin Smith — May 26, 2022 — Luxury
Chanel announced that it will open various private Chanel stores for its highest spending clients. This move is intended to increase both the exclusivity and the status associated with high-end Chanel-brand items. Chanel currently sells its highest-end products, such as handbags and accessories, in public retail stores. However, it intends to reserve certain items for private sale. Chanel believes that it has recovered from pandemic levels, as its revenue increased by nearly 50% from 2021.
In addition to the creation of private retail locations, Chanel outlined its commitment to holding most of its inventory away from online sales. The luxury fashion label only sells its low-end and entry-level products on its online store, as the remainder of the items are left for in-person purchases. The items unavailable online include fashion accessories and watches.
