Facebook Will Be Livestreaming Its First Premier League Soccer Game

Many social media platforms have been partnering with sporting events and Facebook will be streaming a Premier League soccer game for the first time.
The first livestreamed Premier League game will be the Wayne Rooney testimonial match between Manchester United and Everton. The game is in honor of England's soccer captain and will be streamed on his Facebook page, as well as the Manchester United Facebook Page. By livestreaming games on Facebook, soccer fans will be able to have greater access to Premier League games. The money raised from the match will be donated to Rooney's four chosen charities.
The Facebook and Premier League partnership isn't the first social media platform to partner with sport. Snapchat and the NFL are creating a Discover channel, Twitter streamed Wimbledon coverage and will be livestreaming NBA games and YouTube has been showing European Champions League games, as well as the Europa League finals. Utilizing social media platforms to stream game coverage allows for greater online fan participation in cheering on their favorite teams and players.
