That frustrating "No Climbing" sign that seems to appear on everything worth an ascent attempt would be found nowhere near these Playsculptures by Pieter Kortekaas. The gifted artist produces a great deal of utterly divine large-scale pieces in beautiful bronze, but he has thankfully dedicated a series especially to curious and energetic children.
Using polyester to model these big whimsical objects, the sculptor has created a fish and several other fantastical-looking creatures from various branches of the animal kingdom. Playsculptures by Pieter Kortekaas have been executed with soft cartoony curves, a smooth skin and bold colors. They've also been formally enhanced with plenty of protruding features that allow youngsters to clamber up on top of the playground pieces and maintain their balance once mounted.
