Google's Play Service Update Elevates Password Manager
Part of the latest Play Service updates by Google this month allows users across a family group to securely share their passwords with one another. This internet service makes it easier for family members to have access to passwords that are allocated to certain shared services including Netflix and Spotify.
This ability is part of May 2024's updates which are currently rolling out. The sharing feature only applies to the ones that are stored in Google Password Manager. Starting today, the new password sharing component will also work on mobile but has not yet launched on Chrome through the desktop platforms. Once a password is shared with a family member, a copy will be saved into the member's Google Password manager as well.
