Nando’s Initiative will Offer PERi-PERi Chicken on Mandela Day
Debra John — July 19, 2024 — Social Good
In honor of its South African heritage, Nando’s 'PERi-PERi Chicken' will celebrate Mandela Day on Thursday, July 18th.
To commemorate Nelson Mandela’s legacy as a social activist, Nando’s will offer free meals to customers who bring non-perishable food items for local underserved communities. This event will take place from 4 PM to 7 PM at all Nando’s Canada locations in Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta.
Customers who bring non-perishable food items "will receive a free flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken leg or breast, prepared at their preferred spice level," and in exchange, Nando’s will then distribute the collected donations to local food banks.
Such an initiative not only honors the legacy of Nelson Mandela but also raises social awareness and fosters community support. By encouraging customers to contribute to local food banks, Nando’s is promoting a culture of giving and helping to address food insecurity in underserved communities.
